Day 1: Simple Living Challenge: What is Simple Living?
Starting today, I have joined Melissa with Living A Frugal Life to do the Simple Living Challenge. The Simple Living Challenge is a month long adventure that will help both me and you learn how to live simply! I will be sharing what I think simple living is and how I am living simply through tips, pics, and even videos.
Day 1 Topic: What is Simple Living?
Simple living to me is living well within our families means and the ability to have a clean home at a moments notice. Since finishing up on the remodel of our kitchen for under $1000, I took on a very simplistic lifestyle by choosing to live with the “Less is more” motto as our lifestyle choice. The problem is that I haven’t followed the “one in, one out” rule, so my house is taking me longer to clean than I would like. When we first finished the remodel, it only took me about 1 1/2 to deep clean the entire house. These days, it’s taking closer to the 3 hour mark and I really miss the simplistic cleaning that I had before. Over the next month, I will be minimizing our home so we can live the simple life again.
What is Less Is More?
Living with less, but having more time to do the things that matter most!
What is the “One In, One Out” Rule?
When you bring something new into your home, something has to leave. So if I bring in a new set of sheets for our bedroom, then that means I need to get rid of an old set for the same bedroom. Getting rid of the item doesn’t mean throw it in the trash by any means. If the item is still useable, then place it in a box in the garage, closet, or entry hall for donation or garage sale. We have a box in our garage that is for garage sale and then we donate immediately after having a garage sale.
What is simple living to you? And do you follow the “less is more” or “one in, one out” rule in your home?
