Day 2 Topic: My Goals For The Simple Living Challenge

Goals…nobody likes to set them, but goals are the only way to see progress! So this month, my goals are simple!

Keep a list of all the rooms in the home that I will be tackling to simplify living
Live a “Less is more” lifestyle by minimizing the clutter that is taking over my life
Reengage my mind to following the “one in, one out” rule
Take back control of my home!

Day 3 Topic: The Cost Of Stuff

WOW, what can I say? I was born a pack rat. My dad saved everything and still does, but it has always been in a neat and organized manner. If you need something, he can tell you exactly where it is! I guess I took on that aspect of him. While growing up, our home was clean, dinner was on the table promptly at 6pm, and laundry was always cleaned and put away. Now, my bedroom was a total disaster even after my mother put her foot down and decided that she would not be cleaning it anymore. So, instead of that neat and orderly chaos that my dad had, I would shove everything under the bed, in the closet or any crevice that would hold and hide the clutter.

After getting married, our home was a mess. I dreaded cleaning, so I shoved things into hidden spots and it caused some problems for my husband and myself. The cost of stuff in our home was causing us the cost of our marriage in our early years. While I was pregnant with our oldest son, I knew things had to change and I started with one room (the babies room) and made sure that it was neat and orderly. Then our room followed and life in our home began to turn around. After we purchased our home and had 2 boys living under our roof, the pack rat slowly crept back in and now days our home is not a picture perfect home, but it is lived in and we are living happily with our manageable mess.

How excited are you about the big game on Sunday? I am actually really excited even though my Kansas City Chiefs didn’t have such a great season, but The Houston Texans sure put up a fight! Football isn’t the only thing I’m looking forward to!. It’s the one time of year I can’t wait to see all the entertaining commercials.
