Day 17 Topic: Simplifying Activities

Been there…done that!  That’s all I have to say!  Having older boys, they want to do everything from baseball, to football, to church functions, to band, and the list goes on and on.  After going through a season of both boys playing baseball, going to AWANA, and other school functions something had to give.  I just couldn’t keep up.  So we simplified our kids activities and haven’t looked back. I know that it won’t be this easy forever, but at least right now I can keep my sanity!

Now our schedule is more simplified when it comes to outside activities and even though we had to drop a few of our commitments, we are a happier family for doing so.

  • Monday: Homework (big day)
  • Tuesday: Homework & Violin
  • Wednesday: Homework & AWANA
  • Thursday: Homework (big day)
  • Friday: Family Movie Night
  • Saturday & Sunday: Family/Free Time

As the kiddos get older, more and more homework is coming home so we had to make sure that their education always comes first.

How do you simplify your families activities and commitments?
